My New Toy!

So i took the plunge and bought an airbrush!

so far i love it i got a model of a corrola to test it out and so far the build it going well i'll post pics soon with a full review of the brush

More Display Pics!

Display is done!

I went to Ikea (I love Ikea) today and got two more display cases because i went and got my old models that built in highschool. these were before i started painting so they are a bit meh but i still love them. the other problem is because they are old and have been in storage they are bit brittle so i can't take them apart to paint and i would really like to so after i get and build some new kits i am going to start buying and rebuilding some of the old ones so they are up to the same level of quality of the gundam i am building now.

Here is the list of the kits in my collection:
MG Gundam GP01Fb
MG Gundam MSZ-010 ZZ
MG Nu Gundam RX-93 V
MG Gundam Re-GZ 91
MG FAZZ (Sentinel Version)
MG Zeta Plus C1 Type
MS S Gundam
MG Ex-s Gundam
MG Gundam RX-78-4
MG Gundam RX-78-5
MG Aile Strike Gundam
MG Wing Gundam Ver. Ka
MG Freedom Gundam
MG Crossbone Gundam X-1 FullCloth (painted)
MG RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. Ka (painted)
NG Gundam Astray Blue Frame 1/100

i also have a bunch of SD gundam that i don't really want to list right now maybe later.

oh and when the booth is done i will be taking pics of all of them!

Crossbone Gundam X-1 FullCloth update pt4

well i got crossbone done a few days ago but i didn't get around to take pics, this weekend i am moving my project car (93 VW Corrado SLC) so i am going to be busy and work and such has been giving me a bit of a hard time this week so sorry for the lack of updates. once the move is done i am going to make a small photo booth so i can take progress pics a bit better.

all in all i am a bit disappointed with the crossbone kit. i bought it because i thought it would look cool and at the same time as unicorn gundam and those two were the first ones i had bought in a few years but after i started unicorn i went on youtube and watched a few reviews of the kit and everyone said it was a bit loose. well i thought since i was painting the whole kit that i wouldn't have the issue but alas it is. don't get me wrong the kit looks AMAZING it is just a bit hard to pose is all.

once i get the booth built i will take some better pics!

Crossbone Gundam X-1 FullCloth update

I have gotten the all the prep work done and have started to paint. I am doing one little color change with this kit, i am changing the armor from the dark purple that it comes out of the box to lack with green tint. i found when spraying the unicorn gundam that TS-63 Nato Black has a bit of a green tint to it and i just fell in love with the color so i wanted to showcase it here. i think it is going to look amazing. i'll post pics when painting is done.

Crossbone Gundam X-1 FullCloth pre build pics

RX-0 Unicorn Gundam "Ver. Ka" Assembly

i didn't get pics of the painting process it really isn't much i have a little box the i use on my small deck. it keeps things clean and the paint off my deck. Normally i would prefer to paint when it is warmer but as long as it is above freezing things can be ok. i wouldn't spray inside since the fumes are pretty fierce.
anyway on to the pics

the lighting in my place isn't great now that i have started this blog i think i am going to get a small photo box to take better pics.

as a result i didn't take pics of the the parts being assembled.

and now the final product

here is pre decals

RX-0 Unicorn Gundam "Ver. Ka" Paint

here is the first runner put on the foam:

And then here is all of the parts after paint:

For this model I used:
TS-27 Matt White for the white
TS-4 German Grey for the inner parts
TS-15 Blue for the back pack and feet
TS-63 Nato Black for the guns and such

Start of RX-0 Unicorn Gundam "Ver-Ka"

On wednesday unicorn and crossbone fullcloth came in the mail and i started doing pre assembly prep work.

When i build a MG i like to cut the pieces from the runners that are going to be shoing on the model and set them up for paint. some people first paint while the parts are still on the runners and then go over the nip marks again
with an airbrush. I don't have an airbrush yet but is it on my list of thing to get in the future but for now i am using Tamiya spray cans.

While i am cutting the pieces i wet sand each part as i go using 600 or 800 grit sandpaper. i like wet sanding because the sand paper lasts longer and the parts come out better IMO. after i have sanded the parts i mount then on wooden skewers by either mounting the skewer in a whole provided or with poster tac. all of these things are easily purchased at office max or at a grocery store.

the skewers are then labeled and stuck into green foam i get from the craft store with each foam brick representing a runner or two. keeping everything labeled makes things so much easier in the long run. it takes a TON of time but in the end things turn out so much better.

here are a few photos of some of the things i use.
